Reformation Parisa Dress

The Reformation Parisa Dress gets everything right.
linen, obviously, check.
fit and form. check.
class class class.
colors.

I love the white and rose colors of this dress but the navy seems like it would be more immune to spills and hide the dirt and dust of traveling.

PSA: favorite jeans on sale

Urban Outfitters is currently having a sale on my all time favorite (and only) pair of jeans I own. They come in several styles, but this these are my top 3.
 TWO
 THREE

ONE, TWO, THREE

I wear these jeans everyday. To work, on hikes, adventures, concerts, chill days, city walks and everywhere in between. They are so comfortable and forgiving and look great every single time. They are made of mostly natural fibers - 96% cotton and 4% stretch spandex and absent of rayon and polyester which allows them breathe well and be washed less frequently. They travel flawlessly and are the only jeans I bring on trips.  Full disclosure: They usually last about one year, but I love them so much that it's completely worth reinvesting. True story: I once lent these jeans to my sister for an occasion and she insisted I gave them to her and kept them forever, they're magic. They even come up high enough to wear a crop top without bearing midriff. Win. This deal is going on until August 28!

do: Perseid meteor shower

the best things in life are free.
the best things in life aren't things.
this celestial phenomenon is sure to deliver on both of those promises.

Tonight the sky will be illuminated. This is to be the first and biggest meteor shower outburst since 2009, with as many as 200 shooting stars an hour!

The Perseids will  rain down from July 17 to August 24, and will peak between midnight and early morning on August 12, putting on a spectacular show.

Here are a few tips to help plan ahead:
  1. plan on staying up late, maybe take a micro nap during the day or after work
  2. road trip - if you live in the city borders (like me) drive to somewhere with little to no light pollution
  3. find a wide open spot, not obstructed by buildings or trees, its best to be able to observe the largest amount of sky as possible so you wont need a telescope or binoculars. just the naked eye
  4. dress warm, it can get cold at night! (also bug balm/spray)
  5. watch between midnight and dawn hours
  6. bring good friends
  7. bring water. and snacks.
  8. bring a blanket and some pillows or lay on top of your car, it can be uncomfortable to crank your neck and head to the sky for hours. problem solved!
  9. wait 15-25 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark. if you bring a flashlight cover it with red cellophane gift wrap or silk.
  10. put your phone away, honestly it is difficult (read impossible) to get an Instagram worthy photo of this with just a phone. it's better to just have a screenless experience and live in the moment.

LBLD <> little black linen dress

Found. The perfect little black linen dress. by Eileen Fisher.

I'll be the first to admit. Black is my favorite color (yes, even though it is not a color) and it's no news that I'm obsessed with linen, so when I found the perfect little black dress, and the linen was 100 % organic, I knew it was fate. The dress has a beautiful high-low hem detail that shows off your legs but is conservative enough in the back to not be "too short" and a cute little keyhole in the back.

This dress would pair well at the beach, the farmers market, a city walk, or even a wedding, I simply can't think of any occasion it wouldn't suit. A quick change of shoes could make it versatile for a number of occasions; vans, black or colored flats, ankle boots in fall ect.

Eileen Fisher knows how to make comfortable clothes that flatter a woman's body and stand the test of time. This dress is no different. It is perfect for those too hot days of summer and I can already imagine myself throwing on a pullover or grabbing my leather jacket to transition to fall. It is SO comfortable I could literally watch Netflix all day in it, then wear it to a fancy party- I plan on wearing it nonstop.

Nordstrom is currently having their Anniversary Sale and this dress is priced at 40% off until July 7th!

Earth Day <> Reduce/ Reuse/ Recycle

Here are some ways to celebrate earth day all year round <3
  1. bring reusable flatware to work with you (or leaving it there) instead of plastic that is thrown out every day. I have that set and love it, so much that it could double as everyday utensils.
  2. purchasing a reusable water bottle to use instead of using many many plastic water bottles every day, if you prefer filtered water try it with a charcoal filter.
  3. purchasing a travel mug for coffee and/or tea
    1. pro tip: I own a coffee travel mug and a travel tea mug, because as one knows, coffee flavor deeply permeates all that it touches. forever.
  4. using a canvas or reusable tote when you go to the grocery store, plastic bags end up in landfills, and save the trees!
  5. recycling- find out about recycling in the city or town that you live in!
  6. you may be aware that in some cities and towns the automatic tendency is to drive places that are very close. only out of habit, or because everyone else does. maybe you could walk or ride a bike to these locations. If you are going somewhere a little farther think about carpooling or taking public transportation.
  7. share something or swap with a friend instead of buying new
  8. do not throw unwanted clothing away. organize a clothing swap with friends, or take your clothing to a thrift or resale store.
  9. planting trees and wildflowers. If you choose to plant wildflowers, or floral bombs choose flowers that are native to your area. restoring the local plant life will help attract native birds and bees as well as local mammals.
  10. volunteer your time. either on your own, or with a group or organization. clean up litter in your community. I spend several days a week hanging out by the lake where I live. it is magnificent and powerful. in reality it is also littered with trash. Think about spending a small amount of time cleaning up where you live.
  11. get outside! go for a hike a walk, a swim anything! just get out there and start appreciating all that the earth offers.
